Fun Art Gallery visit!

I recently visited the Albright-Knox art gallery located in Buffalo, New York. While visiting I saw a lot of very different creative pieces of art. Some that intrigued my to learn more, some that told a story, some that were difficult to understand, but overall it was a great time. There are some amazing artists featured in this gallery, and all of the works of art were beautiful to look at, and try to understand. The first work of art that made an impression on me was Frida Kahlo's self-portrait with monkey (1938).  Frida Kahlo's Self-portrait with monkey (1938) From seeing this portrait I learned a lot about Frida. This specific piece of art impacted me because she had gone through many life threatening accidents, and she resulted to painting to pass the time, and distract her from her boredom. She decided to include her pet monkey in this painting, and this is something that made me think that this is something that brings her joy despite all of the hardships that she

Module 4

My thoughts on creating a Value Scale are that I thought this project was creative, and cool. Before this class if someone were to ask me what a Value Scale was I would not be able to describe what that was. Now that I have created one I am able to explain the purpose of one, and what it can be used for. While creating the Color Wheel I was a bit challenged at first because I wasn't sure if I would make the colors correctly like it was shown in the video. After I had noticed that I did it correct, and it became fun to watch the colors blend together, and produce other colors.  The media that I enjoyed working with the most was the color wheel. This is because it was more hands on involving the paint, and brushes. I like working with paint, and painting things and although we were not instructed to paint a object or create a picture with it, it was still fun to put the colors together, and see what can be created from that.  In my opinion an important discovery that I had not

Color has many different effects on emotions. These colors have unpredictable effects on our emotions, but with that being said many artists may use vibrant colors to display an effect of happiness, they may also use dark colors to be more dramatic during sad emotions. The theoretical aspects of color that fascinates me the most are the different properties of color. Meaning the different primary colors and the things that are associated with them that put them in the category of primary colors.  Red, yellow, and blue are categorized as primary colors because they are not able to be made by mixing any other colors together.  I n the videos the biggest impact on me what that we associate different colors with feelings, or places, and memories. These colors could take us back to a certain time in our lives, and we connect these colors with those things.  Sideshow-  http://s1378.photobucket.com/user/zavsteph/slideshow/Art%20project-Elements%20of%20art  The first picture in my sl

Module two's blog post

The main thing I learned from watching the videos, and articles were that aesthetics is a philosophical study of beauty and art. Many may have a different interpretation of what these aesthetics are, but they tie in together when beauty and art are being described. Art is something that teaches us what beauty is. When we see a sculpture, or painting we describe it as beautiful and this is something that teaches us how to appreciate the art work. Out of all the philosophers theories on aesthetics the theory that I feel was most important was Platos (4th century B.C). He said "There is a beauty by which all things are beautiful." This is important because like I mentioned before art is described in all aspects of beautiful. A piece of hard can look grusome and gory, but it can still be viewed as beautiful because of the story that is told behind it. I loved the way that Changeux, and Ramachandran described their definitions of aesthetics, and art. Changeux described aesthe

intro blog

Well this is the first attempt at using this new blog so here we go. The process of creating a gmail account, and setting up this new blog was pretty simple. I already had a gmail account so I did not need to create one, and this made my setting up my blogger account faster, and easy. Attempting to create a blog was not that hard you just have to follow the instructions, so everything was self explanatory. In this course I expect to learn a lot about different types of art, and different artists. I also expect to learn different background stories about the art that we focus in on for example, why did the artist choose to paint or create this image? Was there a purpose behind it? Is their a story behind this image? One other thing I expect to learn is more about myself. I would like to learn how can I create art, and how am I as an artist.  I feel good about taking an online course. I have taken many courses online throughout my past semesters so it is not anything that is new
